The maritime dimension of the birds and habitats directives
The European Parliament’s Seas, Rivers, Islands and Coastal Areas Intergroup and its Vice-Chair MEP Ricardo SERRÃO SANTOS had the pleasure to welcome you to the conference entitled “The maritime dimension of the birds and habitats directives”, that took place June 1st, 2016 (from 15.00 to 17.00) at the European Parliament (Room ASP1E1).
The areas covered by those two directives constitute the Natura 2000 Network. This Network introduced a series of key element in nature conservation related to the marine environment. This conference aimeds to discuss the maritime dimension of the Birds and Habitats Directives by bringing together representatives of the European Institutions, the private sectors interested, the marine research community and NGOs.

What is an Intergroup?
The Seas, Rivers, Islands and Coastal Areas Intergroup is one of the 28 Intergroups that were approved in December 2024 by the Conference of Presidents for the 10th legislature of the European Parliament. Intergroups can be formed by MEPs from any political group and any parliamentary committee with a view to holding informal exchanges of views on particular issues and promoting contact between MEPs and civil society.
