The European Strategy for Smart and Sustainable Mobility (SSMS) and the NAIADES III program, as part of the EU Green Deal, both seek to increase the share of Inland Waterways Transport (IWT) by 25% by 2030 and by 50% by 2050. At the same time, one of the main challenges for the IWT sector is to make the necessary energy transition and to look for alternative energy sources and propulsions.
One year after the publication of the Inland Waterways Transport Strategy of the European Commission NAIADES III, the SEArica intergroup has the pleasure to organise an online meeting focused on the Danube River. The meeting will bring together regional stakeholders from the private and institutional sector to take stock of the implementation of the NAIADES III Strategy. What has been achieved so far? What are the remaining and future challenges?
