European Parliament, ASP5G1, Brussels
With the proposal for a regulation on nature restoration, the European Commission sets binding targets to restore degraded ecosystems, habitats and species across the EU’s land and sea areas, aiming at a sustained recovery of biodiversity and resilient nature.
With the support of European Marine Board’s working group results on marine habitat mapping, MEP Pierre Karleskind, Vice-Chair of the SEArica Intergroup for Marine and Maritime Research, and MEP Catherine Chabaud, Vice-Chair of the SEArica Intergroup for Climate and Governance, invite you to debate on the main challenges and opportunities arising from the EU action to protect and restore marine habitats and their ecosystems before the expected vote of the Nature Restoration Law in plenary. Existing good practice of policies and initiatives implemented by maritime regional authorities will also be showcased.
The event is organised in the framework of the Seas, Rivers, Islands and Coastal Areas (SEArica) Intergroup of the European Parliament, together with the support of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions.
